UNISON raises the age limit for its young members

The decision at national delegate conference increases the ceiling age of young members from 26 to 30 years of age, a move that will roughly double the number of the union’s young members.

Extraordinary Young Members Forum Motion meeting – 24th July 6pm
As a forum we are able to send two motions to National Young Member Conference. We had some success last year as one of the East Midlands motions made its way to National Delegates Conference and resulted in a national rule change increasing the age eligibility for Young Members!
Attached is guidance about writing motions. If you are interested in the Forum considering a motion please send a draft to L.TOD@UNISON.CO.UK no later than 19th July. There is a word limit of 500 words for motions and 250 words for amendments. The title is not included in the word count, but bullet points and numbering are. We recommend you keep well within the word limit, to be sure. Where abbreviations are used in the main text, they must be given in full the first time. More details can be found in the attached PowerPoint and on pages 9-11 of the conference bulletin. Also attached are the two motions the Forum submitted successfully last year.
The Forum will then meet on Monday 24th July at 6pm to vote on which two motions to send to National Young Members Conference. The link to the meeting is below:
