Branch Structure

Branch Chair

Simon Taylor our Branch Chair is a UNISON member elected at our Annual General Meeting (AGM). He agrees meeting agendas, minutes etc. with our administrative staff and the Branch Secretary. He also chairs relevant meetings to ensure branch business is democratically transacted according to the branch rule book.

The Branch Chair has a significant role in supporting the Branch Secretary to run the branch effectively. In practise, the facility time for our Branch Chair is derived from also holding an elected position as a full-time Assistant Branch Secretary.

Branch Secretary

Dionne Royston is our current Branch Secretary. Dionne is an employee of LCC seconded to the branch for 5 days per week.

The Branch Secretary is our key officer and leads the branch strategically to ensure that it functions effectively on a day to day basis. Work incudes managing our branch employed staff, individual casework, organising, and representing members collectively.

This role involves working closely with our Regional Officer and others to progress the aims of the branch and our members.

Assistant Branch Secretaries

Simon Taylor, David Adler (full time) and Alex Whitelam ( 4 days per week) are our current Assistant Branch Secretaries. They are UNISON members elected at our AGM and are employees of LCC seconded to the branch on a full-time basis.

The Assistant Branch Secretaries are a key element in the day to day effective functioning of the branch including contributing to decision making processes, individual casework, organising, and representing members collectively.

ULR Co-ordinator 

Katharine Friedmann is our current ULR Co-ordinator. Katharine is a UNISON member elected at our AGM and is an employee of LCC. Katharine is seconded to the branch one day a week and co-ordinates and organises our Union Learning Reps in conjunction with colleagues from our regional office and other branches.

Branch Employed Staff

Organisers

Our full-time branch employed Caseworker/Organisers Mel Adams and Gary Morphus are kept very busy with individual casework, representing members collectively, and organising work. They work across all sectors wherever we have members and do a lot of their work in schools and colleges.

Branch Administrators

Our Branch Administrators Marla Tanna and Marnie Clark do a brilliant job in ensuring that our branch runs as smoothly as possible. They support the work of our elected officers and our Caseworker/Organisers, and are often the first point of contact our members have with the branch when they call seeking advice or support.
